ANSA MOTORSPORTS 2015 PROTOTYPE LITES PROGRAM
ANSA MOTORSPORTS TO COMPETE IN 2015 COOPER TIRES PROTOTYPE LITES POWERED BY MAZDA.
French Young Gun, Nico Jamin, to Drive for ANSA Motorsports at Sebring
ANSA Motorsports will compete in the 2015 IMSA Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda. ANSA Motorsports will compete in the Sebring season opener (March 18-20) with two cars: one in Lites 1 class for Nico Jamin, and one in Lites 2 class for, Ludovico Manfredi, who is returning to the series.
ANSA Motorsports has competed in the series since 2011 and won the L2 Team and Driver Championship in 2013. The 2015 Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda schedule features stability and a fresh challenge, as the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) Development Series will compete at six classic venues from 2014 and a new event at NOLA Motorsports Park in its 10th season.
The series will run ten of its 14 rounds as a companion to TUDOR Championship events, providing plenty of high-profile visibility for teams and drivers at the largest sports car racing events in North America.
Only 19 years old, Jamin will make his racing debut with ANSA Motorsports in the 2015 Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda at the iconic Sebring International Raceway, where he will certainly be seen as a podium finish contender.
“Having the chance to race for the first time in Prototype Lites with ANSA Motorsports at Sebring is a great opportunity for me,” Jamin said. “Since our first test together, I felt good potential, and I’m super stoked to get a good result. The car is very nice to drive, very fast, and has a lot of downforce, which will be very exciting in T1 and T17 from Sebring! It’s a dream for me to race just before the Mobil1 Twelve Hours, and that’s an even bigger motivation, because every big team and factory from the TUDOR Championship are here and will certainly keep an eye on our performance.”
“Also I have the chance to live in Miami, close to the team, so I’m having a great relationship with the entire staff, the mechanics, and Alain Nadal, the team owner. We work together daily to prepare the race as much as possible, and I’m sure we’ll be ready and show up at the front of the grid. I can’t wait to get there!”
Jamin’s primary racing program is with Cape Motorports with Wayne Taylor Racing in the 2015 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda. The USF2000 season starts March 28 at St. Petersburg. Cape Motorsports has produced the last four series Champions (2011-2014). With Jamin, the team is hoping to extend that to five in 2015.
“I am very happy to have Nico Jamin join our team for the first two races of the 2015 Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda,” said Alain Nadal, ANSA Motorsports team owner. “Nico tested for us two months ago and was really impressive. I am looking forward to seeing him race with our team at Sebring.”
The Frenchman began his career in karting at the age of 14 and quickly worked his way up through the sport. After success in the French F4 Championships and the Formula Renault 2.0/NEC Championships, he competed in the USF2000 Series in 2014. He claimed a third-place finish in just his first race and finished ninth in the Championship.
The season gets underway March 18-20 at Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Fla., as part of the prestigious Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida race week.
