ANSA MOTORSPORTS READY FOR PIRELLI WORLD CHALLENGE DEBUT
ANSA MOTORSPORTS AND LORENZO TREFETHEN READY FOR THEIR 2015 PIRELLI WORLD CHALLENGE DEBUT TOGETHER
Even though ANSA Motorsports already began their racing season earlier this month with a few club racing events, including the FARA Miami 200, the actual start of its 2015 professional racing season takes place this week-end at Circuit of the Americas, where the team will make its debut in the Pirelli World Challenge.
For this Nissan Grand Prix of Texas, the season opening of the 2015 Pirelli World Challenge, ANSA Motorsports has entered one 2015 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in the new GT-Cup class. The No. 13 Trefethen Family Vineyards Porsche will be driven by Lorenzo Trefethen from Napa, California.
“We are excited by this new program,” said Alain Nadal, ANSA Motorsports, team owner. “ANSA Motorsports’ general manager, Emmanuel Lupe, and I have been working to put our 2015 Pirelli World Challenge program together since October 2014. In January 2015, we interviewed Lorenzo Trefethen, and the California racer signed his first professional racing contract with us to drive in the 2015 season. Following three great years where ANSA Motorsports won three championships in three seasons, the team feels ready for this new challenge. We believe in Lorenzo’s racing talent, ability to race hard, his winning ambitions and determination to do well, and we look forward to our first race on Saturday.”
Trefethen does not have extensive racing experience, but in the last four years of his racing career, he has already impressed many members of the racing community. Last year, Trefethen competed in the Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA and, in 14 races, scored three wins, three 2nd place finishes, three 3rd place finishes and two top-five. He finished second in the championship. Trefethen tested for the first time with ANSA Motorsports two weeks ago in Florida. His experience with his new team was very positive and, after a long series of impressive laps, Trefethen felt confident with his new Porsche ride.
"This is the beginning of a long championship and a year of growth for me,” said Lorenzo Trefethen. “I'm looking forward to the kick-off race in Austin and working with the team to build our pace. It will be exciting to see where we line up in this very talented driving pool. By the end of the weekend, we should know the things we need to work on to be a player in this championship. I'm also giddy with anticipation for the official unveiling of our art car on Thursday evening. It will be the first time we introduce the rest of the series to the pleasures of Trefethen wine, and I'm sure we'll make a few new friends. I've also seen a few preliminary photos of the car, and it is stunning. I don't think I will be the only one to fall in love."
For this 2015 program, ANSA Motorsports sought help from one of the most recognized poster artists in France, Erwin Dazelle. Since 2010, Dazelle has been the official poster artist for the Brickyard 400, the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach and the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Dazelle’s art car will be unveiled to the Pirelli World Challenge community, in the presence of the artist, Thursday, March 5 at 5:30 p.m. at the team transporter. Trefethen will host media, team owners, drivers, series officials and sponsors. The event will feature Estate Wines from Trefethen Family Vineyards.
Trefethen and the Pirelli World Challenge competitors will be on track Thursday, March 5, during a promoter test day. Practice for the 2015 Nissan Grand Prix of Texas starts Friday, March 6, at 10:35 a.m. A second session is scheduled on Friday at 3 p.m. GT-Cup Qualifying for race 1 is set for Saturday, March 7, at 9:30 a.m. The first 45-minute race of the season is set for Saturday afternoon at 2:45 p.m. Following a morning session at 9:15 a.m., the second 45-minute race of the week-end is set for Sunday, March 9, at 1:25 p.m.
