ANSA MOTORSPORTS TO RACE THREE KTM X-BOWS FOR SANDBERG, PLUMB AND ZIEGLER AT LIME ROCK
Following a very busy racing weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, the stars of the Pirelli World Challenge are racing this week in Connecticut. The Pirelli World Challenge Grand Prix of Lime Rock Presented by Bentley is Lime Rock's big, traditional Memorial Day weekend, May 27-29.
ANSA Motorsports comes to Lime Rock to compete in rounds 9 and 10 of the GTS championship with three Reiter Engineering KTM X-Bows: the No. 9 Swisher Racing KTM for new ANSA Motorsports driver, Bill Ziegler; the No. 12 for Hugh Plumb; and the No. 13 KTM for Brett Sandberg.
Sandberg is racing at home this weekend. The driver from Allendale, New Jersey, lives only 100 miles from Lime Rock, a racetrack that he knows by heart, for having raced there since he decided to become a race-car driver.
The Canadian race weekend showed that ANSA Motorsports’ Brett Sandberg is going to be a real GTS championship contender this year. He is eager to redeem himself on the short, seven-turn track, after his disappointing race 2 at CTMP. Entering the Connecticut event, Sandberg is ranked third in the GTS driver championship after eight of 19 rounds, only 10 points behind the second-place driver.
“I think Lime Rock was the first track I had ever been on, and being only two hours away from home, I consider it to be a home track for me,” Sandberg said. “I have countless laps here, and I feel that our KTM X Bow will be extremely competitive right out of the box. Coming off a second-place finish and an unfortunate second race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, I am ready to redeem myself at LRP.”
For this race, Sandberg will get two new teammates: Hugh Plumb and Bill Ziegler.
Plumb knows Lime Rock really well. He has raced and won there multiple times.
“Lime Rock has always been kind of a home track, being that’s where my racing career started,” Plumb said. “I have had some really good success there, so it would be nice to return to the very competitive Pirelli World Challenge GTS championship. I watched and heard great things about the Reiter Engineering KTM X-Bow GT4, and I am eager to start practicing on Friday morning.”

Ziegler, from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, will drive the brand new No. 9 ANSA Motorsports Swisher Racing Reiter Engineering KTM-X-Bow. Ziegler is not a newcomer in the Pirelli World Challenge. He made his debut in World Challenge in 2010, after having raced in the SCCA National Championship since 2002. In seven seasons of Pirelli World Challenge, Ziegler has more than 60 races in his racing resume. In 2007, Ziegler finished second in the SCCA National Championship Runoffs Touring 2.
Official practice for the Lime Rock event starts Friday, May 27, with a single practice session at 10:50 a.m., followed by qualifying at 1 p.m. Lime Rock GTS race 1 (round 9) is also scheduled on Friday at 2:50 p.m. Following a warm-up at 9:05 a.m., Lime Rock GTS race 2 (round 10) is scheduled for Saturday, May 28, at 12:10 p.m. (all Eastern Standard times). The Pirelli World Challenge GTS Championship rounds 9 and 10 at Lime Rock will air on CBS Sports Network, Thursday, June 9, at 8 p.m. EDT.
