BUSY WEEK FOR ANSA MOTORSPORTS RACERS CHAPONICK AND SANDBERG IN ALABAMA
The 2016 Pirelli World Challenge GTS Championship started last month, and four out of 19 races have already been completed. ANSA Motorsports driver, Brett Sandberg, leads the very contested GTS Championship after four rounds, and Dore Chaponick Jr., is ranked 7th. The next two rounds take place this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama, as part of the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama, where the Pirelli World Challenge teams and drivers will share the track with the stars of the Verizon IndyCar series.
Chaponick will drive the No. 12 ANSA Motorsports KTM X-Bow and GTS Championship round 2 winner at COTA. Brett Sandberg will drive the No. 13 ANSA Motorsports KTM X-Bow.
Sandberg had a very good early season with three podium finishes in four races, including a win at Circuit of the Americas, the first for ANSA Motorsports in the Pirelli World Challenge GTS Championship. This weekend, the New Jersey racer is looking to run at the front of the pack and strengthen his championship lead. Chaponick, who suffered a few minor technical issues in the last races that kept him from performing at his peak, is eager finally to prove that he is as fast as the rest of the top drivers in the series and will be looking to score his first podium in Alabama.
ANSA Motorsports co-owner, Alain Nadal, who recently announced Patrick Otto Madsen as a new business partner in the team, said he is excited by the potential outcome of the Alabama race weekend, because he believes that the Reiter Engineering KTM X-Bow is going to be one of the cars to beat on the 2.3-mile, 17-turn Barber Motorsports Park road course.
Practice for the Barber event will start on Thursday, April 21, at 12:45 p.m. CST, with a second session at 3 p.m., followed by qualifying at 5:15 p.m. Race 1 of 2 is set for Friday, April 22, at 1:15 p.m. and race 2 on Saturday, April 23, at 9:45 a.m. The Barber GTS Championship rounds 5 and 6 will air on CBS Sports Network, Saturday, May 7, at 1 p.m. EDT.

Car 12 Dore Chaponick’s pre-race quote: “I am really focused for the next race in Alabama and excited about our chances. I have been preparing my body and mind for Barber to be as ready as possible, since it is a very demanding racetrack. I am a hundred percent ready."
Car 13 Brett Sandberg’s pre-race quote: "I am extremely excited to get back behind the wheel of our No. 13 ANSA Motorsports Reiter Engineering KTM X Bow. Going into this week, leading the championship certainly has its way of adding a bit a pressure, but I am confident in our team’s ability to perform, and I know our KTM X-Bow will be strong here at Barber!"
