ANSA Motorsports will compete in its first Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama event of the year with a new, teenage driver, who has a bright racing future. Making his sportscar and Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA debut is an 18-year-old, American racer from Florida: Dore Chaponick Jr. Chaponick will drive the No. 79 ANSA Motorsports 2011 Porsche GT3 Cup in the Gold Cup class in the two 45-minute rounds 9 and 10 of the 2015 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama, scheduled this weekend, at the iconic and challenging 4-mile, 14-turn Road America road course, located in Elkhart Lake, Wis. Born in 1996, Chaponick has been around motorsports his entire life. He began karting at the young age of 8 and has been behind the wheel ever since. Highlighting his career in karting thus far is his 2008 Florida Winter Tour Rotax Mini-Max Championship, where, racing against racers from all over the world, Chaponick earned three victories and five podiums in six events to earn the honor. In 2010, Chaponick claimed the Pan Am Rotax Junior Vice-Championship, and a berth on Team USA and a trip to Italy for the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals. In 2011, Chaponick earned the title of Florida Winter Tour Rotax Junior Champion and will make a return trip to the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals with Team USA in November at the Al-Ain Raceway in Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates. In 2012, Chaponick had an extensive European test program in Formula 3, Formula E and Formula Abarth. In 2013, he made his open-wheel racing debut in North America, competing in the US F-1000 until last year. Chaponick tested a Porsche GT3 Cup for the first time last month to prepare himself for his new challenge. Following a long session this week in a professional simulator in Miami, to learn the Road America track, Chaponick is now ready to compete in his first professional race with ANSA Motorsports. Seven drivers are entered in the Gold Cup class and Chaponick’s goal is to finish in the top five. ANSA Motorsports has a long history racing Porsche GT3 Cup in North America. The team won two Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama (Gold Cup class) Team Championships in three seasons. In 2012, Angel Benitez Jr. collected the title. Last year, Patrick Otto Madsen won the 2014 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama (Gold Cup class) Driver Championship and became the first athlete from the country of Haiti to win an international championship. In 2015, ANSA Motorsports also competes in the Pirelli World Challenge GT-Cup class with driver Lorenzo Trefethen. “All the drivers who raced for ANSA Motorsports in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama found success in the series,” said team owner, Alain Nadal. “We are happy to be the team that gives Dore Chaponick Jr his first shot at a Porsche sportscar event. He is a young and ambitious 18-year-old driver with a lot of talent, and I am looking forward to having him follow in the footsteps of Angel Benitez Jr. and Patrick Otto Madsen, starting this weekend at Road America.” The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama Road America event starts with a promoter test day on Thursday, Aug. 6, at Road America.
