TREFETHEN AND ANSA RACING NORTH OF THE BORDER THIS WEEKEND
Almost three weeks ago, ANSA Motorsports and Lorenzo Trefethen were racing the No. 13 Trefethen Family Vineyards/BRM Chronographes Porsche in Alabama. The 2015 Pirelli World Challenge is taking its competitors north of the border, for rounds 8 and 9 to be held in Canada at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.
Formerly Mosport Park and Mosport International Raceway, Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (CTMP) is one of the most iconic road courses on the planet. CMP is a track that every driver fears and wants to conquer. Located north of Bowmanville, Ontario, the facility features a 2.459-mile, 10-turn road course.
With 10 races to go in the 2015 Pirelli championship, Trefethen has plenty of time to score great results. He and his ANSA team have done well since the first GT-Cup race of the year and would like to score another podium finish this weekend during the two races scheduled on Saturday and Sunday.
“Mosport is a track I’ve been waiting to drive my whole life,” Trefethen said. “What a history that place has! I vaguely remember a Can-Am race there - I must have still been in diapers - but the sound of those cars and the speed they went stuck with me! Its fast corners will prove a very different challenge from the tight, technical tracks we’ve been at recently, and I can’t wait to take it on.”
ANSA Motorsports has been busy since Barber with multiple club racing programs and projects, including the recent dealership announcement with Reiter Engineering. ANSA Motorsports became a REITER Engineering dealer, and ANSA Motorsports’ goal is to market and support new REITER’s cars, but also to start racing them later this season and in 2016.
“We are busy at the shop at the moment. We are pleased with our Trefethen Family Vineyards racing program and are focusing on getting the best results with Lorenzo in the GT-Cup class,” said ANSA Motorsports team owner, Alain Nadal. “With 18 races, the Pirelli World Challenge is a very long championship, and we have to keep our car competitive all year long to make sure our driver continues to run at the front of the GT-Cup pack. We are aiming for a podium finish this weekend in Canada.”
Trefethen and the Pirelli World Challenge competitors will be on track Thursday, May 14, for a promoter test day. The official RemoFerriGroup.com event at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park presented by Replay XD will start on Friday, May 15, at 9:35 a.m. EDT. Qualifying is also set for Friday at 3:05 p.m. EDT. Race 1 at CTMP is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, at 1:15 p.m. EDT and race 2 on Sunday, May 17, at 3 p.m. EDT. The CTMP race weekend will air on CBS Sports Network Sunday, May 24, at 5 p.m. EDT.
